Rajiv has vast experience in the fields of Railways Civil Engineering, particularly railway track and bridges. He has headed and completed many large-scale projects for Indian Railways and Metro systems, some of which, inter alia, are listed below:
- Planning, designing and construction of railway projects, covering the entire gamut of activities i.e. Topographical Survey, Geo tech investigations, Feasibilty reports, DPRs, detailed engineering, tendering and inspection of works
- Heading projects involving engineering, signalling, mechanical and electrical works of both Open Line and Construction organisations
- Providing oversight to units designing Bridges, tunnels, Signalling Systems, Survey, Geo tech investigations and Traffic & Economic studies.
- Project Director of GC team to Kerala Rail Development Corporation (KRDCL)
- Railways, inspecting new lines before opening, enquiring into accidents, sanctioning condonation to SOD
- Providing leadership to the team for preparing feasibility and Detailed Project Reports
- Preventive checks of works, systems and procedures.
- In-charge of planning and construction of complete bridges
- Monitoring health of bridges; planning, rehabilitation and rebuilding of bridges
- Designing, approving and monitoring of all miscellaneous bridge works; research and testing of bridges and bridge components as well as examining suitability of running new rolling stock on bridges
- Monitoring Railway Affecting Works in the entire stretch of a railway network covering many states of India
- Maintenance of track and bridges over a large the jurisdiction
- Maintenance of offices and buildings
- Renewals of tracks
- Restoration of lines affected from breaches, landslides and accidents
- Supervising production of concrete sleepers
- Computing residual fatigue life of Early steel superstructures on Indian Railways
- Studying and standardising transmission of longitudinal forces on bearings and substructure
- Carrying out lab and field trials on High Strength Friction Grip bolts
- Introducing Acoustic Emission Technology for condition assessment of bridges
- Introducing Vibration Signature Technology for condition assessment of bridges
- Upgrading laboratory for condition assessment of concrete structures
